The Royal Society of Canada Atlantic Chapter, in partnership with Dalhousie University and Saint Mary's University, is pleased to invite you to its latest Open Academy Event,"The Challenges of Globalization: From the Commission on Reasonable Accommodation to the Quebec Charter of Values and Beyond: An Insider's Look".

This first installment in a series of debates will feature Gérard Bouchard, FRSC (co-chair of the Bouchard-Taylor Commission on Accommodation Practices Related to Cultural Differences), Christopher Elson (Chair, Dalhousie University Department of French) and Jerry White (Canada Research Chair in European Studies, Dalhousie University Department of English).  Through a Round Table discussion, speakers and audience members will engage with questions of global migration and its consequences on national diversity, identity and minority language communities.  The concept of inter-culturalism as the cornerstone of Québec’s model of immigration and integration, and the Quebec Charter of Values will be central to this discussion.
